The Minstrel

On Thursday we went to see The Minstrel. A Minstrel is someone who goes around telling stories through songs. He also made up a song about SUNNYBRAE SCHOOL.
We sang songs with them. They had a guitar challenge.
Tony was a better guitar player than The Minstrel.
The Minstrel was silly and funny.

About Max and Millie

Mrs Smith came in this morning with two Bichon puppies. Their names were Millie and Max. You might think they are twins but they are brothers and sisters. They felt VERY soft. Millie chases Max then Max hides and Millie gets his tail and then Millie gets in trouble and Max thinks he is in trouble so he goes to hide again. Max or Millie licked Priyanka and she laughed a lot. Max had a blue collar and Millie had a red one. Their hair is NOT hair it’s wool. This is how they have a haircut: they get put in the bath but with no bath water in it. Mrs Smith has a pair of clippers that you use at the hairdressers and cuts their wool. They were creamy white.

Sophie, Priyanka, Bill and Mark Dressed in Costumes

We think they look GREAT!!!!!!!

Annie, Kasey, Derek and Ofa Dressed in Costumes

International Cultural week at Sunnybrae Normal

Some of the children in Room 2 dressed up in their national costumes from The Philipines, China, Korea, Tonga, India, Hong Kong and from Japan. The costumes were bright and colourful. The school had a costume parade.
We learnt how to count and say some words in different languages. Rose and Sophie taught us some Chinese. Millie and Annie taught us some Cantonese. Priyanka taught us some Hindi.
Mrs Naran’s son showed the junior school how to play an Indian instrument called the Tabla. Mrs Naran showed us how to put on a Sari which is an Indian costume. The sari was long. We learnt that it was 6 metres long. It was sparkly and shiny.
At lunch time we did some fun things like origami and Rangoli patterns in the junior playground.
We did some inquiry learning about another country. We worked in small groups and used the internet to help us. We learnt lots of interesting things about other countries.

Jack Visits Our Class

One day a little baby lamb came to our school. His name was Jack. He looked like a dalmatian dog because he was black and white. He was shy and snuggling into Mrs Sneddon. We felt his wool and he felt oily and fluffy. He had little horns on the top of his head and he looked like he was standing on his tippy toes like a ballerina. We heard him bleating during the day. Mrs Frazer was feeding him milk from a bottle at lunchtime and he was nibbling the green grass. He must have been hungry and thirsty. In the classroom he was using some of his senses to explore, nibbling the paper and licking the table.
